Diwali

Tray and Pots from dar amïna
Diwali is a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. It celebrates new beginnings, light over darkness and the triumph of good versus evil. This is another festival of joy, colour and light (see also Day of the death post).

For me, it has also a personal note, as when we were little our Indian auntie invited us to join her in these celebrations. For us it was travelling to a friendly and colourful place. Food and candles (divas) were key in the preparation. I remember my first time entering a room full of food that I hardly knew, and the smell of all those dishes and spices! This is where my love for Indian food began!

Curries are a popular nowadays and people go out to eat them or have them as a take away. First of all, we should say Indian dishes instead than curry as curry is a mix of spices, and there are million of different combinations.

But, how to serve it?

A tray and little pots to serve each dish are very important to serve it well. This way everyone can enjoy a little bit of each dish. Do not forget to always have naan bread and Pilau rice!

Thanks Rita for introduce me to this wonderful world of Indian food!
